Sun, Moon & Portals: Beeston Bump Exposed
Sun, Moon & Portals is a series shaped by memory, imagination and a sense of wonder. Through bold colours and recurring circular motifs, these works reflect not only the presence of the land, but also the shifting forces — solar, lunar, and emotional — that move through it.
Let me introduce you to my friend and fellow artist Billy Grant. We have the joy of a joint exhibition at The Allen Hall Gallery
Billy Grant
Connective Tissue
Billy grew up in Glasgow, where soot-streaked tenements and abandoned buildings doubled as playgrounds and portals. Without formal training, his early influences came from time spent in galleries, music scenes and the charged atmosphere of Glasgow’s West End. A move to London in 1990 led to decades immersed in music, photography and high-end kitchens where plating became composition, and detail was everything. He always returned to image-making as a constant thread.
Connective Tissue is an exploration of memory, place and the subtle forces that bind us to the past. Sometimes stark, sometimes dense, the work is led by mood, impulse and the restless need to make sense of it all. A visual diary of dislocation and return. Of what we keep, what we lose and how meaning reveals itself when we finally step back.
