Every painting begins somewhere.
Sometimes it's the changing light over the North Norfolk coast.
Sometimes it's a sketch made on a windswept beach.
Sometimes it's simply a colour that refuses to leave me alone.
I’m always noticing things, the light on the sea, a scrap of colour, a strange shape, a little story. My sketchbooks are where I collect them before they find their way into my paintings.
